Letting You Go

I wrote the music and lyrics to this song after spending a relaxing day in September on the beach in Seaforth, Nova Scotia. For the entire afternoon, I had this beautiful beach to myself as I practiced my guitar and sang my heart out in the warm sun.

I wrote this song after experiencing a disturbing dream. This dream had left me crying in the middle of the night in my Victoria home just days before I left for the tour. It was about an ex boyfriend who had never treated me well. He had left quite a bit of relationship baggage in my life and I wondered how he still managed to have control over me in my dreams. It seemed wrong. By writing this song, I was able to begin letting him go once and for all...

"Letting You Go"

Music and Lyrics by Rozalind MacPhail

It's been a few years since I've heard your voice,
Longer since I've seen you
Yet you were in a dream of mine last night
And you had me weeping like a baby

I'm wondering how it is that you still have the power to hurt me so
I thought I said goodbye to you a long time ago,
A long time ago

In my dream,
You had me crumbling just like old times
And you still had me thinking that your life was far more important than mine
You were in love with another girl
And I stood hurting inside as you ingnored me
And time stood still,
And time stood still

And now I'm letting you go
I'm gonna let you go now
I'm gonna be on my own
I'm gonna let you go now

I'm gonna let you go
I'm gonna let you go now
I'm gonna be on my own
I'm gonna let you go now
